REN Skincare – Cleansing Water & Moisturising Day Cream

Recently I decided to change skincare brand after my recent one started to not work as effectively.

I had two samples of REN Skincare given to me at the Mecca counter in town. I got mini versions of the Ultra Moisture Day Cream and the Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial. At first I wasn’t too keen on the 1 Minute Facial, it smelt kind of funny and I am not generally a fan of scented products. But for me it works really well as a travel item since I just have a sample size. Over Christmas I went back to my parents house and the sizes were useful and allowed me to try them without interference from my other products.

Anyway what I ended up buying a full size of was the Ultra Moisture Day Cream and the Rosa Centifolia 3-in-1 Cleansing Water.

fullsize

I don’t even know where to begin. The moisturiser I was previously using felt quite thin and greasy although it worked quite effectively I still wasn’t a fan. The very first time I tired my sample I knew I had to buy the full size. I have slightly dry skin and am prone to lines appearing in my face after a stressful(very frown inducing) day. I put this on the first time after removing my makeup in the evening and within a minute all trace of the day’s hardship had disappeared! It was truly a miracle.

It has a great texture and consistency, it feels thick but not greasy at all. The pest part is you only need a tiny amount to cover your entire face. My sample was 15ml and I got about 12-17 uses out of it, I should have kept better count probably but it was definitely a lot more than I was expecting. I use it every morning as a base before my makeup and it helps to minimise any lines I might get throughout the day.

It contains Hyaluronic Acid in it which is in itself amazing. I own the By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder which is also a fantastic product, I refer to it as ‘photoshop in real life’. It is amazing at smoothing out unwanted lines and texture so it makes sense it would be contained in this product as well.

It cost me $64 for the full size which is 50ml, I will make an edit of this at the end of the post when it runs out to inform how long it lasts. It’s quite expensive but I would say it is definitely worth it.

The 3-in-1 Cleansing Water is a convenient product, it claims to be a cleanser, toner and makeup remover all in one. At the moment I am trying to use few products as my skin is relatively fine left to it’s own devices so as an interim product until my skin calms down it works really well. I have heard quite a few people use it as a toner alone but for me it has worked well as a cleaner, removing dirt etc. as well as leaving my face feeling refreshed.

As a makeup remover it works quite well, but not for heavy-duty or waterproof makeup. I wear the L’Oreal Gel Eyeliner for my winged eyeliner which has amazing staying power but can be hard to remove

Swatch features: Foundation, matte black eyeshadow over primer, gold shimmer eyeshadow over primer, non-waterproof mascara, kohl pencil, liquid eyeliner and gel eyeliner.

As you can see it removed practically everything other than the gel eyeliner which I see as a major win. I have had makeup removing wipes that can barely manage eyeshadow before and for something with multiple uses it is a very useful product. At the moment I remove my eye makeup(and sometimes eyebrows) with the Gentle Oil-Free Makeup Remover by NARS then I use the Cleansing Water all over my face. It is really gentle and it is suitable for the eye area, so if you only wear eyeshadow or lightweight kohl pencil this should work fine.

You can buy the REN Skincare range from Mecca in New Zealand as well as the NARS makeup remover and By Terry powder I mentioned.
