Here I am back with the second part of my review on the Bettie Page Lingerie Black/Peach Spiral Stitch set. I have previously reviewed the Spiral Stitch Bra here. Today I will be talking about the matching Z Stitch Highwaist Brief and also some brief thoughts on their suspender belts.
If you’ve read my previous lingerie reviews you may have noticed that if I’m buying a bra, I have to have the matching set, the only exception is if it doesn’t come with one. I used to wear exclusively matching sets but since going underwire free I find I just stock up on black, white and peach pieces that will match the rest of my collection.
I bought the size UK14/US10 as I am about a size 14-16 here with a 43” hip measurement. The UK14 is marked as fitting a 42” hip and the 16 44” so I figured the 14 would stretch to accommodate a little more. I am very happy with this size and find it to be very comfortable. The elastic doesn’t cut in anywhere and it isn’t too lose either. I really love the contrast stitching and bow, it felt a bit loosely attached at first but I’ve been wearing these for months and it is still firmly attached.
The cut of the back of the brief is a really nice full coverage. The mesh they use is also quite taut and not loose which feels really nice against the skin, in fact it is probably the best brief mesh I’ve ever felt!
It doesn’t actually hit my waist at all which surprised me about a ‘Highwaist’ brief though the website does say it sits ‘below the smallest part of your waist’ even though… that is your waist. It’s not too low though, it hits about my hip bones which is comfortable and is still high enough so that if I wear a suspender belt I don’t get a little tummy window. I think the bow would have to be removed if it sat at your actual waist so as not to show.
I decided not to purchase the matching suspender belt as it only had 4 clips and I like to wear a minimum of 6 just for comfort reasons. I did purchase the Bettie Page Classic Suspender Belt in a 10 which I am wearing in these photos but I really did not enjoy it. I found it to be very stretchy, which can be good but it would just fall to my hips throughout the day and I would feel like it could even just completely fall down sometimes.
A constant look when wearing this suspender belt. I also found though the clips were really nice with metal and ribbon cover tabs and metal clip sliders, they would constantly ping open and wouldn’t hold my stockings. I would be fine for half a day but as soon as 1 clip detached from my stockings others would follow. If I tried to re-attach any then they would ping off 10 mins later if I moved at all. I was hoping this would be a great basic and was really disappointed, but maybe I got a bung one as I’ve never ever had this issue with a suspender belt before.
These retail for around $59NZD on their website. I think they are super comfy and very well made. There aren’t necessarily must haves and I would definitely recommend the Tap Pants over these but if you want to match the bra then go ahead as they are great and have stood up to a lot of wash and wear with no degradation at all! The size range is also good from a UK8-UK22 which is 36”-50” hips!
