I can’t believe how long my blog has gone neglected and I’m sorry I have not made an update post sooner! The past few months have been pretty busy for me and I have had a tonne going on.
One of the most exciting things is that I graduated! I finished my course at the New Zealand Film & Television School and have now entered the film industry! During that time I met some awesome friends and discovered a strong passion for something I didn’t really know about. I came into the course thinking I was interested in writing and art department but left with a love for camera and lighting departments. I just love doing something practical and technical!
I will definitely post my graduation films once they are released to the public. I was thrilled to be the Director of Photography on one of them, and to have written the other! For now I’m just working on small projects and working on getting recognition and more work, so if you have a need for a camera or lighting assistant in Wellington then get in contact!
I’m also part of Flace Films – a small independent film production house in Wellington, New Zealand. Specialising in short films and video advertising. We have a few projects in the wheels so there will be more content up soon, but always welcoming more projects!
Now drumroll please……. for one of the most intense things I’ve done……
I entered Miss Pinup New Zealand and made the top 10! This meant I went up to Auckland to compete during the Very Vintage Day Out!
It was such a huge day and involved so much preparation. Although I didn’t win I am so proud of myself, the winners and all contestants, because it is a HUGE thing to put yourself out there for.
The above photo is of my eveningwear gown. A labour of love and dreams I set out to create my princess goals dress, I wanted something extravagant and luxurious which really felt like me. At some point I will get proper photos of all of my outfits and document them on here. I made 5 of the 7 outfits I wore on stage, it was an exhausting lead up and an exhausting weekend!
One of the reasons I had so many outfits was my talent section. I talked about some of my favourite designers – Elsa Schiaparelli(featured above), Claire McCardell and Cristobal Balenciaga and changed into reproductions of some of my favourite pieces of their’s. I loved making the reproductions but the hardest thing for me was the public speaking. I failed many of my school speeches and have immense difficulty speaking to large groups of people, I’ve been working on it over the years and it has become slightly less terrifying. I loved the support of my Top 10 buddies and of course my bestie Miss Flossypots!
Thank you Elizabeth J Photography for the images
Anyway now that is all out of the way I’m working on trying to normalise my life! I’m starting to get back into a routine and getting more work. Part of that also means more blogging! I went out and took photos for some upcoming posts so they will be arriving in the next few weeks.
See you all in the next one! And as always –
